Paralympic Gold winner donates 30 lakhs of his prize money to government school

Paralympian Mariyappan Thangavelu who scripted history by winning gold at the Rio Paralympics in the Men's High Jump category has donated 30 lakhs from his 2 crore winnings to help out his school in Tamil Nadu.

Mariyappan, a 20-year-old athlete from Tamil Nadu lost his leg when he was just 5 years old when a bus took a wrong turn and ran over his right leg. Despite his disability, he never gave up and continued to work hard and his made the entire country very proud of his exceptional achievement.
