Acclaimed arm wrestler from Assam trains for upcoming Asia and World Championships

GUWAHATI, April 18 2017: Monoj Debnath, the acclaimed arm wrestler from Dibrugarh, Assam will be taking part in the upcoming National Championships which will be held from May 18 to May 21.

The event will take place in New Delhi and will act as a qualifier for the Asian Arm Wrestling Championship which will be held from June 5 onwards. The Asia event will take place in Kyrgyzstan.

Monoj who currently trains in Bangalore comes from very humble beginnings and would like to see more involvement by the government to help further this sports and help athletes like him who face financial difficulties.

He is also training for the upcoming World Arm Wrestling Championship which will be held in Budapest, Hungary in September.

On asked about his training, "Everyday I spend about 5 hours in which my practice includes resistance training, power training, pulley session, cardio and much more." Monoj was ranked 6th in the last World Arm Wrestling Championships which was held in Bulgaria last year.
