An assistant professor at Tripura University's Chemical and Polymer Engineering Department, Harjeet Nath came out with an innovative initiative to assist the frontline workers fighting against COVID-19. To limit the use of human resources when treating COVID-19 patients, he developed a robot that can serve food, medicine and other essential items to patients.

The 'COVID-19 WARBOT' was developed with the sole intention of helping medical professionals in their fight against COVID-19.

"It's a four-wheeled robot which I have developed at my home using waste material. The main motivation behind making this, is for safeguarding our health workers who are working in COVID related hospitals," said Harjeet Nath.

Harjeet stated that it took him two weeks to develop the robot which cost Rs. 25,000 by recycling parts from different machines.

The robot can carry a maximum load of around 10 to 15 kilograms and has an operating range of 15 to 20 metres. The robot can also operate continuously for one hour on a single charge.

Harjeet said that he intends to hand over his design to the state government so that it can be used in COVID-19 health centres.
