Meghalaya: DM&HO organises district-level sensitisation programme on COVID-19 vaccination

The office of the District Medical & Health Officer (DM&HO) organised a district-level sensitisation programme on COVID-19 vaccination at the District Library Auditorium in Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi, on Tuesday.

The programme was attended by the MDC of Jirang Constituency, Victor Ranee, Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah, DM&HO Dr M. Mawrie, Meghalaya Police Service (MPS) Addl. SP P. Syiem, Dr CM Pohshna of Bethany Hospital, religious leaders, NGOs, headmen and representatives of different government departments.

Dr M. Mawrie informed that the State Government had launched the first phase for health workers and the second phase for frontline workers and that the next phase would target persons above the age of 60 and persons between the age of 45 to 59 years with co-morbidities.

Mawrie also appealed to the people to not hesitate as they have used the vaccine in the entire country, including the state and urged the participants to spread awareness on the vaccination drive.

“This programme is held with a purpose to make people understand the importance of taking the vaccine and to stay safe and protect oneself, family and neighbours, as we continue to eradicate COVID-19,” Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah said.
