Tripura: Alarming increase in diabetic cases; State records 2.5 lakh patients so far

 |

AGARTALA: Tripura has around two-and-half lakh people suffering from diabetes, a doctor said.

"At least seven percent people of total population are diabetes victims. That means, around 2.5 lakh people of the state are diabetes patients. The number of diabetes patients is increasing every year," he said on occasion of World Diabetes Day on Monday. Speaking on the reason for rising number of diabetes, he considered change in lifestyle and food habits as the major reasons.

"Currently, people have become dependent on fast food that helps to increase weight and moreover, due to change in lifestyle, people are now doing less physical work. People first need to be aware of the diabetes disease which is a silent killer," he said.
