Nagaland: Coronavirus outbreak worries AYO, urges govt to initiate widespread sensitization

KOHIMA | March 4:

The Angami Youth Organization (AYO) today expressed deep concern over the outbreak of Corona Virus stating that if the virus reaches Nagaland, it will have devastating and irrevocable affects.

Terming the outbreak as a dangerous predicament, AYO in a release, has urged upon the Nagaland Government and concerned departments to initiate all necessary steps by widespread sensitization and outreach programs on Corona Virus from the populated urban centres to every far-flung villages to help people understand the disease, and take basic preventive measures.

AYO also stressed on the need for concerned departments including the Health and Family Welfare and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority to be well equipped with required machineries, infrastructure or medicines for combating the COVID19.

It further appealed the government to take all precautionary measures including restricting issuance of permits to Foreign Tourist from COVID 19 affected countries till such time the virus is fully contained.

There are at least 25 positive cases of COVID-19 in India at present, the Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan informed on Wednesday during a press conference here.

According to the Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, at present at least 9 Indian nationals and 16 foreign nationals are infected with the disease.
