Two poachers arrested in Assam

GUWAHATI: Two poachers, suspected to be involved in elephant poaching, were arrested today in Morigaon district, according to reports.
They were planning to poach a rhino at Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary and were allegedly involved in elephant poaching in Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary recently, a police officer said.
Acting on a tip off, police and forest protection staff arrested them from a house in Mayong area near Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary early this morning.
The duo have been identified as Sirajul Islam and Genggu Ali, he said.
A rifle and bullets were recovered from their possession, he said.
