SHILLONG:

World Environment Day, an annual event that aims at increasing positive awareness about the need to care for the environment and the nature of the planet earth is just around the corner.

This year's World Environment Day iconic activities are being hosted by Pakistan. The theme for 2021 is observance is 'Ecosystem Restoration' that is, "Reimagine-Recreate-Restore".

Needless to say, a healthy ecosystem and rich biodiversity yield greater benefits. With a deep sense of responsibility towards our planet, each one of us should do our part in protecting it. Every year, Research Scholars' Forum (RSF), North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) observes this day by holding different activities such as tree plantation, cleaning drive, environment awareness programmes, etc.

However, amid pandemic, the forum is unable to hold programmes as it has always been organising for the past few years. But this will not dampen their spirit.

To observe World Environment Day this year, RSF NEHU will be organising an online event on June 5, where everybody will be able to participate from the safety of their homes.

The activities can include tree plantation, cleaning drives, watering plants or you can unbox your creativity through write-ups, painting, music, any DIY project related to recreation and restoration with your re-imagination.

All you'll have to do is take a picture or a video of your activity and upload it on your social media handles with the following hashtags #worldenvironmentday2021 #researchscholarforum #letsgoR3 #RSF4R3.

RSF is collaborating with TNT-The Northeast Today to celebrate "World Environmental Day From Home 2.0," where the activities will be featured on TNT's social media platforms.

You can send your entries through WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook, and also do not forget to tag @researchscholarforum and @tntthenortheasttoday on Instagram, Facebook & Whatsapp.
