PASIGHAT:

The Ato Kuming Olung (AKO) society, in association with the Environmental Club of JN College, planted more than 80 saplings at the college premises in Arunachal Pradesh's Pasighat on Saturday.

The plantation drive was a contribution towards the state government's aforestation initiative to beat the growing global warming due to massive deforestation.

Ato Kuming Olung Society is a conglomeration of various Adi clans coming together from different parts of the Adi belt.

Divisional Forest Officer Tashi Mize and many senior members of AKO, college students, including the Principal of JN College, Dr Milorai Modi, and college faculties, participated in the plantation programme.

"The plantation drive of AKO will go a long way in helping the forest department in the regeneration of greenery," Mize said.
