Tripura government is considering to re-introduce the pass-fail system in 5th and 8th standard from this academic year, after eight years of 'No Detention Policy' which was introduced in the state schools.

While talking to Indianexpress, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Saturday said that the education was among top priorities of the government and there was a need to reintroduce detention in schools.

He said that the government is considering re-introduction of the pass-fail system in schools. An annual assessment in all the classes will be done to prepare students in a way so that they will be able to pass in any examination.

He said the system would not be introduced in all classes straight away since it might exert pressure on the students.
