AIZAWL | JULY 30, 2020:

The Mizoram government is focusing on re-introducing Middle School Leaving Certificate(MSLC) after a gap of ten years.

Education Department secretary, Esther Lalruatkimi said that the MSLC will be reintroduced in class 8 from the new academic session of 2020-21 to promote quality education.

She asserted that the present continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) authorized by the Right to Education (RTE) act does not do justice to Mizo students.

The secretary also pointed out that the students have delivered poor performances after the introduction of CCE.

"By re-introducing MSLC Exams, we're trying to restructure the existing CCE system following the local ethos and shoot the major students this does not mean that we are protecting the CCE system," she said.

The secretary said that the re-introduction of the MSLC examination shall be conducted at the district level under the administration of the State Council of educational research and training.
