Meghalaya: School Calendar for Academic Session 2021



Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik, on Friday, notified the school calendar for the 2021 Academic Session.

According to the notification issued by the Meghalaya Education Department, schools should follow the following procedures:


End Dates for Academic Session 2021:

  • Pre-Primary: November 30, 2021.

  • Classes 1-12: December 22, 2021.

Note: For Classes 9 to 12, two Saturdays in a month may be added to cover the courses.

School Working Calendar: The Start Date of the Academic Session already notified by the Government is April 1, 2021.

  • End date for Half Yearly Exams: July 30, 2021.

  • Summer Break: August 2 to August 6, 2021.

  • Selection Test for Class X Private Candidates: Last week September to the first week of October 2021.

  • End date for Pre-Primary Academic Session: November 30, 2021.

  • Last date for submission of exam forms for Class X & Class XI candidates: December 10, 2021.

  • End date for Classes I to XII Academic Session: December 22, 2021.

100 per cent syllabus should be followed for all classes.

Schools must undertake a ‘catch-up course’ for all classes, with sufficient time for students who had limited access to online learning or who undertook self-study during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is mandatory, and teachers should assess learning gaps of each student and to specifically address the skills/competencies and knowledge areas not mastered by students to ensure learning in the current academic session,” read the notification.

It further stated that special exams for those who did not appear online should also be considered after the preparatory course.

Meanwhile, the Government declared 2020 as a ‘No Detention’ year for all students except those appearing for class 10 and 12 board exams.
