Manipur records its highest pass percentage in HSLC examination

IMPHAL, May 26, 2018: Manipur has recorded its highest pass rate in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur, the results of which was declared on Friday.

Education minister, Thokchom Radheshyam Singh declared the much anticipated results of the matric examination on Friday afternoon.

The minister noted that this year has seen the highest pass percentage in the history of the Board Of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) with 73.18 percent. A total of 37, 064 students appeared in the HSLC examination and the total number of passed candidates is 27,126 at 73.18 percent. Last year's pass percentage stood at 66.70 percent and it also outshines 2013 record of 72.27 percent which was the second highest in ten years comparison.

He cited that the success is because of the overall cooperation of the public towards better education and the decreased rate of bandhs and blockades. "We are hopeful that we would get better performance in the coming years" he added.

He thanked the public for their cooperation in making the state peaceful and education-friendly for the students.

18,637 male students appeared in the said examination both regular students and external, and the pass percentage is 75.06 with 13,991 students. On the other hand, 18,427 girls appeared for the exam out of which 71,281 passed at pass percentage of 71.28 percent.

The pass percentage for government schools stood at 50.99 percent whereas aided schools achieved 62.01 percent and private schools stood at 80.84 percentage.

District-wise, Thoubal and Kakching stood at the highest with 82.79 percent and Imphal East and Jiribam at 67.11 percent.
