Assam: Higher Secondary 1st year students promoted without exams
GUWAHATI | APRIL 23, 2020:
The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has declared all higher secondary (HS) first year students under the Council as promoted to the next year.

The HS first year examinations could not be completed this year due to the nationwide lockdown to tackle spread of novel coronavirus. This had prompted the Council to announce that all HS first year students for academic session 2019-20 who had filled up forms online would be promoted directly to HS second year 'as a special case'
In a notification, the Controller of Examinations, Pankaj Borthakur, stated, "Assam Higher Secondary Education Council has decided to promote the students of the Higher Secondary First Year Class of the academic session 2019 — 2020 (who had filled up online forms) to the Higher Secondary Second Year Class of the academic session 2020 — 2021 as a very special case for this year. The Higher Secondary First Year Examination-2020 to be held on and from the 25th of March, 2020 to the 10th of April, 2020 could not be held due to outbreak of Covid 19 all over the world."
