Assam: 17 teachers suspended for negligence of duty in Hailakandi

GUWAHATI, June 16, 2018: Altogether 17 teachers from three schools were suspended for gross negligence of duty under Lala education block in Hailakandi district on Friday.

The suspension order was issued by district development commissioner and district elementary education officer-in-charge F.R. Laskar.

During a surpirse visit to the schools, Laskar found the teachers conspicuously absent. Laskar spoke to the director of elementary education over the phone and suspended them immediately. "The teachers were suspended to bring discipline and decorum among the teaching faculty of various schools in the district as well as to ensure transparency in school administration," Laskar said.

Among the teachers suspended, three are from Nizvernurpur ME Madrassa, nine from Sarbanandapur Girls' MV School and five from Sarbanandapur ME School. The order directed Lala block education officer to take over the charge of the three schools following the suspension of the head teachers.
