Meghalaya:Mukul Sangma faces litmus test as Opposition moves no confidence motion against government

The Mukul Sangma Government in Meghalaya could be in serious trouble after a united opposition moved a no confidence motion against the government.

The No Confidence Motion was submitted jointly by the Meghalaya People's Front (MPF), which comprises of the United Democratic Party (UDP) and National People's Party (NPP) and Hill State People Democratic Party (HSPDP).

Earlier the Opposition had moved a no confidence motion against the speaker which was admitted and is up for discussion on the last day of the 5 day assembly session.

With the new cabinet reshuffle and a lot of internal turmoil within the Congress the opposition are looking for ways of exploring to bring down the government.

It is speculated that certain MLA's who were removed from cabinet met with Congress MP Vincent Pala and expressed their unhappiness in the recent developments in the state .

The opposition which is being handled by two young legislators Paul Lyngdoh and James Sangma have managed to muster enough support to give the Mukul Sangma led state government nightmares .

It is believed that the support of Congress President and Former Chief Minister DD Lapang will hold key in countering the No confidence motion .
