Laxmita Reang selected to represent India in Football,makes Tripura Proud

More than 50% of the footballers who will play in the AFC Cup in China for the under 16 girls national team is from Northeast .

The team  travelled from Delhi via flights from Hong Kong and Ningbo province of China.

Looking ahead to the Championship where India have been clubbed with Korea Republic, Philippines, Malaysia and Northern Mariana Islands

In a First for Tripura Laxmita Reang has also been selected as the goalkeeper for the national team.Laxmita Reang belongs from the Tripura Sports School ( Damcherra, Panisagar) is of the indigenous community from Tripura

Many are hailing her achievement with the head of the Royal house Pradyot Manikya hailing her achievement as a inspiration to many in the state .

'We are proud of her and hope that the state government gives her all the support extended to other sports persons ' said Pradyot Bikram Manikya

"(P.V) Sindhu-di is my biggest inspiration and I hope that I can score many goals to make the Nation proud, just as she did by winning the silver medal," Soumya shyly adds and heads around her nod in agreement.

" Dipa (Karmakar) di is my motivation," Laxmita Reang's voice distorts the pensive silence. "She has shown that hard work and determination reaps profit. It's about making a mark and earning respect."

"As I hail from Tripura, I feel more connected to Dipa-di," smiles Laxmita.
