Hemanta Biswa Sarma appointed Convenor of Northeast Democratic Alliance even as Trouble brews in Meghalaya

 |

Even as murmurs of dissent grows over the poor showing of the Congress in the tura bypolls ,leaders from the state have met top congress leaders in Delhi to convey their dismay over the leadership of CM Mukul Sangma.

It is believed that MPCC President met AICC General Secretary Narayanasami as well as Rahul Gandhi over developments in the state. It is believed that Shillong MP Vincent Pala was also present in the meeting.

The congress candidate Dikkanchi Shira who is also the wife of the Chief Minister got walloped in the by-election and trailed from every assembly segment sans Ampati which is the seat of Mukul Sangma.

Interestingly Vincent Pala also met Conrad Sangma and congratulated him on his victory though many are saying that this meeting was done in good spirit .

With Assam going BJP and CM's old nemesis Himanta Biswa Sarma back in charge it is expected that turbulent times lay ahead of the Congress led government in Meghalaya. It also may be mentioned that the BJP has formed the northeast democratic alliance where Himanta Biswa Sarma will be the convenor .

The Aim of Northeast Democratic alliance will be to work with all non congress ruled states and opposition in the northeast.
