COVID-19 was just like waking up from a dream.

FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK:

A life-changing moment for everyone came in the last week of December 2019, and we never realised it would turn the tide of history. But how could we?

COVID-19 was just like waking up from a dream. The last thing we remember was falling asleep and waking up to chaos, anger and sadness in almost every nook and corner, no matter where we turned.

The first question we asked ourselves was why. Why are we here in the first place?

Going back 100 years, humans have been at centre-stage, be it the two World Wars or just looting every resource available. The need to compete with our neighbours, owning the biggest property, flashing fat bank balances - these are the things that throw us out of gear.

True, we all need to survive and thrive, but not by affecting everyone and everything in our paths. We humans are not the only ones who live on this blue ball we call Earth.

But the reality of the situation is that governments are blaming each other as leaders take advantage of the situation to play their game of politics.

It has become a war of words.

We are all flawed individuals, but as cheesy as it may sound, we can ease the situation if we learn to work together with no bias or prejudice by cutting across all language or race barriers.

Every individual should rise towards re-building this nation and planet together for not only ourselves but the generations ahead so they could proudly say we did not give up. As for today, we should follow all safety protocols and spread awareness.

Let us make informed choices to benefit humanity, and maybe when this pandemic ends, we’d be able to look back and learn from the past.
