Arunachal Pradesh:Its official Kalikho Pul died in Vain as Pema Khandu ditches Congress for PPA

 |

When Kalikho Pul passed away in unfortunate circumstances last month there were murmurs how he had been betrayed by his own colleagues when they deserted him at the last moment to return back to the Congress .

But even the most astute of political commentators will not fathom to make a prediction in a state like Arunachal Pradesh as reports coming out of Itanagar suggest that Chief Minister Pema Khandu along with 42 Mla's have decided to join a regional party called the People's Party of Arunachal and ditched the congress twice in a matter of months.

PPA is a constituent of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) which was formed on 24 May in Guwahati under KaliKho Pul.It is ironic that after the unfortunate death of Pul the MLA's decided to leave the Congress said one observer.

Perhaps the fight was never about the Congress or BJP but that of the chair of the Chief Minister and with a constituent of NEDA coming to power the convenor of the alliance Himanta Biswa Sarma has pulled another rabbit out of the hat.

Money is again been considered a key issue as the Centre which is ruled by BJP were unhappy with the reinstatement of the Congress and there were rumours that Funding in the state could be tightened .

Former Youth Congress General Secretary and Arunachal MLA from Limromba Constituency who was considered a Nabam Tuki Loyalist Nyamar Karbak has also allegedly joined the new alliance. This will be a huge blow to Rahul Gandhi as he was considered a mentor to Nyamar Karbak.

At present Congress has only one MLA Nabam Tuki the former Chief Minister of the state.

Meanwhile BJP has decided to extend support to the PPA Government from outside which means only one-lone Congress Member in Nabam Tuki will sit alone in the Opposition Bench
