Arunachal Pradesh:Governor leaves for Tripura, swearing in delayed.Political parties cry Foul

In what maybe seem as an attempt to buy time to further destabilise the Pema Khandu led Congress Government in Arunachal Pradesh , the sudden departure of Governor Tathagata Roy to Tripura before the swearing in ceremony of the Cabinet has raised many eyebrows.

Just a month ago the acting governor had arrived with much fanfare and was given a warm welcome by then Chief Minister Kalikho Pul.

Though Roy was supposed to turn up in Itanagar for the scheduled ceremony,  the  changed his schedule and returned to Kolkata from Gauhati  and thereafter took a flight to Agartala.

The cabinet swearing in has now being rescheduled and the Raj Bhawan is keeping mum when the Governor will return to Itanagar.

As per the constitution, the chief justice of a high court (in this case Gauhati high court) can conduct the swearing in ceremony of the cabinet ministers in the absence of the governor in the state.

There have been suggestion that BJP is trying to buy time and go for an appeal to the Supreme Court to overturn its order. Also a delay in swearing of the cabinet will allow poaching of MLA's who may feel that they have been overlooked in the new government.
