NHRC issues notice to Centre, Assam, Mizoram on border dispute

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to governments of Assam, Mizoram, and the Centre, alleging “grave violation of human rights” during a border clash between the two Northeastern states at Mizoram’s Kolasib district on July 26.

Following a complaint by one, Md Injamul Haque of Assam, the NHRC, on August 22, issued notices to chief secretaries of Assam, Mizoram, and the Union Home Secretary asking them for a reply.

“The Commission has considered the matter because the allegations made in the complaint are serious, involving deaths and injuries to public servants. The case, therefore, involves a grave violation of human rights of the deceased and injured." stated the details of the proceedings.
