NE India COVID-19 cases lowest in the country. Pending doom or sigh of relief?

NEW DELHI | JUNE 27, 2020:

The Central Government has said that the North-Eastern region of India has lower numbers of COVID-19 cases as compared to other states in the country.

Northeast India currently has 3,731 active cases, with 5,715 recoveries. The death rate is low, with no deaths reported so far in the states of Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim.

With India witnessing the highest single-day spike of 17,296 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, India's COVID-19 count reached 4,90,401 on Friday, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

The death toll has risen to 15,301 as 407 new deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours. The total number of active cases stand at 1, 89,463 with 2, 85,637 patients cured/discharged/migrated cases, as per the MoHFW.
