Nation wide lockdown extended till May 31

NATIONAL | MAY 18, 2020:

The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued order extending the nation wide lockdown till May 31, 2010.

Earlier, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has asked the government of India and state authorities to continue the lockdown as a measures to prevent the spread of covid-19 in the country.

In an order, NDMA had directed the Government of India, state governments and state authorities under section 6(2)(i) of the Disaster Management Act 2005.

However, detailed guidelines, orders clarification were issued by the National Executive committee (NEC) from time to time were sent under section 10(2)(1) of the disaster Management Act 2005.

The NDMA had directed GOI and all the departments, while considering the fact that lockdown measures need to be implemented for a further period upto May 31st in the country to contain the spread of covid-19.

Modifications in the guidelines, keeping in view the need to open up economic activities while containing the spread of covid-19, has also been issued.
