COVID-19 is one big wave, says WHO

NEW DELHI | JULY 28, 2020:

The World Health Organization on Tuesday, July 28, warned against complacency concerning fresh cases of COVID-19 transmission in the northern hemisphere.

Margaret Harris of the WHO stated that COVID-19 will not behave like influenza, which follows seasonal trends.

"People are still thinking about seasons instead of realising that COVID-19 is a new virus which behaves differently," she said.

She also urged vigilance in applying measures to slow down the transmission that spreads through the mass gatherings and warned against thinking in terms of waves.

"COVID-19 will be one big wave. It will go up and down. The best thing we can do is to flatten the curve and turn it to something lapping at our feet," she said.
