Confirmed COVID-19 surges to 27,892 in India, death toll at 872

NATIONAL | APRIL 27, 2020:

The number of COVID-19 cases in the country has climbed to 27 thousand 8 hundred 92 while the death toll rose to 872. Health Ministry data said, the number of active COVID-19 cases stood at 20,835. As many as 6184 people have been cured or discharged and one had migrated.

Health Ministry said, Maharashtra has the highest number of 8068 cases followed by Gujarat 3301 and Delhi with 2918 cases. Highest number of 342 people have lost lives in Maharashtra. Gujarat has reported 151 deaths , Madhya Pradesh 103 and Delhi 54 deaths.

In Northeast India three states including Manipur, Tripura have been declared covid-19 free while Sikkim continue to remain the only state in the country without a single reported positive case of COVID 19 so far.

In Arunachal Pradesh, after the lone positive person was labelled virus free and discharged, no new cases have been reported till date in the state.

Nagaland has reported one positive covid-19 case, who was tested positive at Guwahati Medical College Hospital, GMCH on April 12. After the third test was done, he was tested positive again even though the second test was found negative.

Meghalaya has reported 12 positive cases of covid-19 with 1 death so far.

A total of thirty-five confirmed cases were reported from Assam, wherein, twenty-seven have recovered with 1 dead.

Mizoram has reported one positive covid-19 case while two persons from the state were also detected positive for coronavirus in Mumbai recently.
