Woman from Manipur bags best yoga master award

IMPHAL | May 29, 2019:

A woman from Manipur was honoured with the 'International Best Yoga Master Award-2018' in recognition to her contribution towards promoting yoga in the country.

Asem Jayanti Devi, hails from Imphal and is presently serving as the head of yogic science and human consciousness department of MDS University,
Ajmer.

The award, comprising a citation and a memento, was given on the closing ceremony of the two-day 7th International Yoga Festival held in Smart Students' School, Pattaya, Thailand, on Sunday.

A large number of yoga lovers and practitioners of her home state have
expressed happiness over her feat.

Asem Bhaka, elder brother of Jayanti, on Monday while expressing happiness said, "I'm so happy with my echan (younger sister) bagging the prestigious award. Today, we will hold a small celebration for her achievement in our family,"

Jayanti began practising yoga since childhood and obtained PhD in the field before becoming a yoga professor in MDS University, he added.
