Tripura High Court to hear Badal Chowdhury’s bail petition on Monday

The anticipatory bail petition of deputy leader of the opposition and former PWD minister, Badal Chowdhury has been listed to be heard in the Tripura High Court on October 21 (Monday).

Till yesterday, Justice Subhasish Talapatra presided over the vacation bench and from today, it was the turn of Justice Arindam Lodh but he has not yet joined and Saturday and Sunday, being usual holidays, the anticipatory bail petition will be heard on Monday next.

Meanwhile, the state police, specially the investigating team looking into the case against Badal Chowdhury, have been moving from door to door to trace and arrest him.

"Whenever an information and in certain cases rumours reached the police, we make it a point to rush to the spot in search of Badal Chowdhury but he managed to evade the police net everytime," said a police source.

The houses of dozens of people including those of recently retired police officers have been searched by police to trace out and nab Badal Chowdhury as the issue appears to have become a matter of prestige for the government.
