Manipur: Mother of 4 gets one year rigorous imprisonment for drug smuggling in Imphal

IMPHAL: A special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) court in Manipur on Thursday sentenced a 32-year-old woman, who had been arrested for possessing 2kg of opium in 2012, to one year of rigorous imprisonment.
The woman, identified as Nengboi Mate, a resident of Langol housing complex in Imphal West, was also fined Rs 50,000.
Mate, who is a mother of four, was arrested by a narcotic cell team of the team of Imphal West Police near a parking lot of the Langol housing complex on December 9, 2012.
