Funeral of Shillong Archbishop Rev Dominic Jala on Oct 23

SHILLONG | Oct 18, 2019:

After almost a week of waiting, the news of the arrival of the mortal remains of the Archbishop Late Rev Dominic Jala has finally been released.

Diocesan Administrator of Shillong Archdiocese, Fr John Madur on Friday informed that the mortal remains of the Archbishop will arrive in Guwahati Airport on Sunday, the 20th of October at 2.45 pm.

On the way to Shillong, the mortal remains will be taken to Guwahati Provincial House, Byrnihat Parish, Nongpoh Parish, Umsning Parish and Mawlai Parish. The mortal remains will be kept in his parental home at Mawlai Phudmuri for the night.

From the 21st of October till the funeral, the mortal remains will be kept in the Cathedral Church for the faithful to pay their homage.

The funeral will take place on Wednesday (October 23) at the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christian, Laitumkhrah at 1 pm.

Reverend Archbishop Dominic Jala along with Father Mathew Vellankal, an Indian priest working in the United States, died while another Indian priest, Father Joseph Parekkattsustained injuries in a road accident in California which occurred around 11 pm October 10 (10:30 am on October 11 India time) when the trio was traveling to Clearlake in California.
