Applications are invited from the candidates who are citizens of India for appearing in the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test 2018 (MTET) to be conducted by DERT on 31st January 2019.

Minimum Qualifications to appear in the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test 2018

Note:- The Directorate of Educational Research & Training, Meghalaya has recently made some partial modification in Eligibility Criteria and the Age Limit to appear in the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET) which is as follows

For Class I – V

Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2 – year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
OR

Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2 – year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms & Procedure), Regulations, 2002
OR

Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 – year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
OR

Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2 – year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
OR

Graduation and 2 – year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)
OR

A person who is pursuing any of the Teacher Education Courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August 2010
For Class VI-VIII

Graduation and 2 – year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1 – year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed)
OR

Graduation with at least 45% and 1 – year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with NCTE (recognition norms & procedure), regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
OR

Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 – year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
OR

Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 – year B.A/B.Sc. Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Se.Ed
OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1 – year B.Ed (Special Education)
OR

A person who is pursuing any of the Teacher Education Courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August 2010
Relaxation up to 5 % in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for eligibility shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC/ST/OBC/Differently Abled.

Diploma/Degree Course in Teacher Education recognized by the NCTE only shall be considered. However, in the case of D.Ed (Special Education) and B.Ed (Special Education), a course recognized by the RCI only shall be considered.

Age limit

The candidate should not have crossed 32 years of age (relaxable up to 37 years in the case of SC/ST/Differently Abled candidates) as on the first day of the first month of the year in which the advertisement was made.

In case of candidates already in government service, he/she should have first entered service within the age limit mentioned above and he/she shall have to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the concerned office/ Department for applying & appearing for the examination.

In respect of candidates employed in aided schools and contractual teachers, the age limit of 35 years (relaxable by 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates) on the first day of the year as required, including those candidates employed in unaided schools, is hereby exempted.

Application Fee

For General/OBC Candidates:- Rs. 300/- for per paper
For SC/ST Candidates:- Rs. 150/- per paper
The amount is to be deposited through Treasury Challan under the Head of Account "0202-Education, Sports and Arts and Culture-0l-General Education-600-General-(01)-Examination Fees" within detailed estimates of revenues and receipts Vol-I, during 2018-19.

Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test 2018 – How to apply

Applicants can download the MTET Application form w.e.f 1st November 2018 from DERT website www.megeducation.gov.in or obtain from the following offices on production of Treasury Challan of Rs 10/-(Rupees ten) only for each paper ( Paper—I for classes I— V Paper —II for classes VI-VIII) deposited under the Head of Account "0202-Education, Sports and Arts and Culture-01-General Education-600-General-(01)-Examination Fees" within detailed estimates of revenues and receipts Vol-I, during 2018-19.

Last date of submission
The application form is to be submitted to the office of the DERT and DIETs on or before 10th December 2018 (extended from 30th November 2018 to 10th December 2018). Application received after the last date will be not be entertained
