AGARTALA Dec 13,2017Launching a scathing attack on the Marxist government for high rate of crime especially, against women, BJP Mahila Morcha national president Vijaya Rahatkar said that the conviction rate is comparatively less in Tripura than other northeastern states.

The northeastern state has highest crime rate in comparison to population but the conviction rate has been found only 24 percent whereas, in Meghalaya, the conviction rate is 67 percent followed by 42 percent in Nagaland, 35.5 percent in Sikkim, 43.3 percent in Manipur.

"Tripura stands highest in case of low conviction rate of crime. Total 786 cases have been registered in different police stations in last 10 months but not a single case related to domestic violence. The Left government failed to curb down the crime rate," alleged Rahatkar during her three-day visit in the state on Monday.

The Morcha president also assured to raise Tripura's highest crime rate in the Parliament session slated to begin from December 15.
