Sepahijala Zoo to exchange animals with Bangalore zoo

AGARTALA: The animal exchange programme between Tripura's Sepahijala Zoo and Bannerghatta Zoo and National Park in Bengaluru is likely to be in the month of June, said Chief Executive Officer and Project Director of Indo-German Development Cooperation Project (IGDCP)- Dr. AK Gupta on Friday.

According to an agreement, the Sepahijala Zoo would provide a pair of spectacled monkeys, two Asiatic bears and three pig-tailed monkeys to Bannerghatta Zoo. Similarly, Bannerghatta Zoo would provide a pair of lion, three black bucks, a pair of fog deers and two porcupines.

The Central Zoo Authority had already approved the animal exchange programme between the two zoos.

"We got the final approval from the Central zoo Authority. Hopefully, the animal exchange programme will start by this month," Dr. Gupta said.

Earlier, Sepahijala Zoo had exchanged animals with Indira Gandhi Zoological Park in Visakhapatnam. (TNT News)
