Nagaland: PHED launches online water bill payment system in Kohima

This online bill payment system is part of the smart city plan for the State of Nagaland, said Secretary, PHED, Moangwati Aier, speaking at the programme. The first phase of the online billing system has been launched in Kohima for commercial establishments only, he informed, adding that all the other districts will be replicated with the same system after the database, software and hardware are downloaded.

The online payment system which has been launched in the first phase for commercial establishments will in a week or so be opened for domestic consumers, he said. Reminding that the online payment system will ease the mode of paying water bills for consumers, he informed that the department generated revenue of Rs 2.5 crores during the 2017-2018 period, with a target of Rs 2.6 crores for 2018-19.

Inaugurating the new system, Chief Secretary, Pankaj Kumar, IAS, lauded the department for launching the online payment system for the consumers of the capital. The provision of online electric bill payment facility in 8 towns in the State has been very helpful for the citizens, he stated. The need for payment of water bills was thus necessitated, and with the initiative and effort of PHE and technical support from IT department, the same is being launched today, he added.

Kumar expressed optimism that the facility will be made available to the domestic consumers in the state capital, and the other districts. He congratulated the AHoDs, HoDs and the team of Engineers who worked hard and made the same a possibility.

Consumers can pay their bills online using their credit card, debit card or through net banking from the web site www.phedonline.nagaland.gov.in
