Meet the young aspirant Ranjan Bordoloi, a young designer from Assam and also the founder and creative director of Studio Bordoloi who was enlisted in the Forbes India 30 Under 30 2018, a prestigious list of achievers across 15 categories.

Bordoloi, with his creation Pitoli chair, was the only Indian among all to walk away with two awards in the furniture category in Red Dot Award: Design Concept, 2017 in Singapore. The Pitoloi barstool and Pitoloi stool, won the Park Elle Decor Student Award, 2015 for the best use of traditional material.

The Pitoli chair was created for his final year graduation project in 2014. Showcased at India Design ID in February 2015, his work was selected by Giulio Cappellini, art director of Milan-based Italian design firm Cappellini, and was put on the Cappellini Next collection/stage in Milan's Salone del Mobile.

In 2016, Bordoloi's Kaathfula chair, inspired by the shape of a mushroom, won at the Godrej Design Lab 2016 competition.

This young achiever has not only made his family proud but also set an example for the young generation.

TNT- The Northeast Today caught up with the young artist to know about his inspiration and his future aspirations. Here is a brief extract of the conversation.

TNT: Who has been your biggest source of inspiration?

I'm inspired by works of great Designers, Artists and Architects such as Peter Zumthor, Anish Kapoor, Alexander McQueen, Thomas Heatherwick and Sabyasachi Mukherjee among others.

TNT: Do you think more youth from the region deserve a chance to be featured in the forbes list?

Definitely. Although it sounds corny, but I believe that if they dare to dream and go with their gut, they can achieve anything. I come from a very small village in Morigaon, Assam and belong to a middle class family. If I can do it, anyone can.

TNT- What is it that sets you apart from all other young achievers?

I'm sure, everyone of them has their unique path, their own struggles, hurdles and challenges. I guess, what sets me apart is the fact that I come from the North-East.

TNT- The Northeast Today wishes the young icon all the very best for his future endeavours.
