Exclusive Interview with Wanrida Pyngrope, Winner of Miss North East India 2015

 |

Wanrida Pyngrope, a 25 year-old teacher from Shillong, was crowned Miss North East India 2015 at a beauty pageant held in Guwahati in December 2015.

35 girls from different states of the Northeast including four from Shillong participated in the event. Wanrida Pyngrope was crowned the winner, with Pranjali Purkayastha of Guwahati as the 1st Runner Up and Varbeewa Sonowal of Shillong as the 2nd Runner Up .

Here is Wanrida's story in an exclusive interview with TNT-The Northeast Today.

1. When did you first know that you wanted to be a 'beauty queen'?

Well I have always had passion and interest for fashion. I remember ever since my childhood days wearing my mom's heels and jaiñsem and putting on her makeup whenever she was not home.

2. What made you decide to participate in 2015?

I always wanted to participate but could not since I was too caught up in my studies. And now since my studies are over I finally got the opportunity.

3. Do tell us a little about how you prepared for the contest.

To be honest when I knew I was selected, I was very excited but also felt unprepared. Fortunately, a week before the event, we had grooming sessions where we were trained and groomed.

4. After the Miss Northeast, what's next?

I haven't really decided on what I'm going to do next. Let's see what the future holds for me. For now I'm loving the quality time that I'm spending with my family.

5. Advice for other young girls from the Northeast who want to participate in beauty pageants?

My advice to all the girls from the Northeast who want to participate in beauty pageants is to be confident and humble, and most importantly, 'we should be who we are'.
