Centre injects 30 per cent for emerging areas of NE India

Union DoNER Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said on October 17, that the Centre allocated an exclusive 30 per cent for neglected and emerging sections of North East.

Dr Singh had a meeting with the Chakma delegation led by ‘Committee for Citizenship Rights of the Chakma and Hajong’ of Arunachal Pradesh.

“It has been decided that 30% of North Eastern Council’s allocations for new projects under existing schemes will be devoted to focused development of deprived areas, neglected sections of society and emerging sectors of #Northeast States. Meeting with Chakma delegation,” tweeted Dr Singh.

On the advice of Home Minister Amit Shah, the North Eastern Council affiliated to the Ministry of DoNER had sent a proposal, which was later approved in the Cabinet meeting, he said.

Dr Singh reaffirmed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement to work for the betterment of North-Eastern States to be at par with rest of the developed states.
