RJD to support TMC in next West Bengal Assembly Elections

NEW DELHI:

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) will support the Trinamool Congress party in the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav told reporters on Monday after a meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

“It is Lalu Ji’s decision to provide full support to Mamata Ji. Our priority is to stop BJP from coming to power in Bengal,” Tejashwi told reporters.

Acknowledging Tejashwi’s allegiance, Banerjee said, “Tejashwi bhai is fighting, so we are fighting and vice versa.”

West Bengal will go to the polls for the assembly elections from March 27, with the Congress, BJP and TMC in the fight to form the next government.

The RJD is an alliance partner of Congress in some states but supports the TMC in West Bengal.
