AGARTALA, Feb 9:

Janajati Morcha, BJP's tribal wing has demanded the party to adopt 'Lok Sabha strategy' and to contest the upcoming TTAADC elections scheduled by May 7, on its own.

Janajati Morcha leaders came to this conclusion at a meeting held at the party headquarters here last night where Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma presided over the brain storming session.

"We are of the opinion that the party should contest ADC elections alone without forging alliance with Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) just like what the party did in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections", said MLA Rampada Jamatia, who is senior leader of Janajati Morcha.

Jamatia, who remained present in the meeting further said, "It will be good for the indigenous people if BJP wins the ADC polls without any support from its ally- IPFT. Many people who ruled the ADC could not bring any change in the life of indigenous people. Our stand on ADC elections to go alone will be communicated to the party".

It was also decided that leaders of Janajati Morcha would launch massive campaign on the success of the Central and the state government for tribal welfare.

"After 23 years, Bru refugee problem has been solved by the BJP government and Rs. 600 crore has been sanctioned for their rehabilitation. The credit must be disseminated to the people of tribal areas. Besides, the state cabinet's decision for empowering tribal council will have to be informed to the people. And, we will do it before the ADC elections", he added.
