GUWAHATI:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address an event organised at Silapathar in Assam's Dhemaji district around 11:30 am on Monday.

The day also marks Modi's third consecutive visit to the northeastern state in two months.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Modi posted the following tweet, "It is always special to be in Assam. I will once again have the opportunity to interact with the people of Assam at a public meeting in Dhemaji. At the programme, various development works will be launched."

"Prime Minister Modi will dedicate to the nation important projects of the oil & gas sector in an event organised at Silapathar in Dhemaji, Assam at around 11:30 am. He will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for engineering colleges during the event," read an official statement released by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

Earlier, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) held a massive anti-price rise protest across Assam.

The All Assam Students Union (AASU) also stated that it would protest against the Prime Minister's visit as the Centre could not fulfil its promise of implementing Clause 6 of the Assam accord which aims at the constitutional safeguard of the indigenous communities of Assam.
