Meghalaya: Will James be stripped off Home Portfolio?

Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma informed that the MDA partners are still deliberating on the issue of stripping the Home portfolio from James PK Sangma even as he asserted that no decision has been taken in this connection.

"Yes, the issue is being discussed at various levels among the MDA partners. But we are yet to take any decision to strip the Home portfolio from James. We are trying to resolve the issue amicably," Sangma told reporters here on the sideline of a function here on Monday.

Admitting that the issue is very complex, he said that the Cabinet Ministers and the coalition partners are trying to come up a resolution which will be acceptable to all.

It has been reported that many of the Cabinet Ministers and the coalition partners in the MDA Government are unhappy with Home Minister, James K Sangma especially over his "failure" to tackle the illegal transportation of coal and also on the alleged illegal collection of money at Dainadubi check gate.

Few of his Cabinet colleagues have even suggested that Chief Minister should take over the Home department.

"We have raised ourunhappiness with the Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma over the incapability of the Home to deal with the issue of alleged illegal transportation of coal. There is a general perception in the minds of the public that everyone in the Government is involved in this illegal transportation of coal racket," few of Cabinet Ministers on condition of anonymity had stated.
