TURA | March 11:

Internal conflicts within the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) continue to stir controversies among the members of the council. In a fresh political development, a BJP MDC, Bhupendra Hajong has accused the CEM Dipul Marak of using earlier signed papers fraudulently in an attempt to show his support for the NPP led EC.

Alleging fraud, Hajong filed an FIR in Tura Police Station on Tuesday morning stating that the papers signed by him were bring produced as proof of support.

"I have already withdrawn my support to the present EC quite some time back. When I was with the Dipul led EC, I was made to sign a blank piece of paper to confirm my support but I am told that the chairman (Denang T Sangma) is using a fake document not written by me as a show of support to the NPP led EC," ssaid Hajong in his FIR.

The MDC filed the FIR against any document produced by the chairman and written by the CEM stating it was fraudulently done. He added that he was a party man and would not go against the sentiments of the party.

A tug of war has ensued within the GHADC over support to the NPP led EC, with the BJP looking to upend the NPP in the House and form its own executive committee with support from the rest of the House, including those from rival Congress.

This succeeds the drama of two sessions being abruptly adjourned as the NPP led EC found ways to crawl out of the no confidence motion that was raised by MDCs of the opposition.
