SHILLONG | JUNE 18, 2020:

Meghalaya Chief Minister and NPP National President, Conrad K Sangma, on Thursday, maintained that the political turmoil in Manipur will not have any impact on the coalition in Meghalaya.

While addressing reporters, Conrad said that the decision and situation in Manipur has a lot to do with the leadership there.

"It is more of an individual-based issue. Therefore, it will not have any impact in Meghalaya," he said.

Conrad also stated that the resignation of three BJP MLAs had triggered a series of political events in Manipur.

"Things flared up after the three BJP MLAs resigned," he added.

He informed that the matter is being discussed with the party MLAs and a decision on how to move forward will be taken thereafter.

The NPP president has also directed two party leaders from Nagaland and Mizoram to review the situation in Manipur and to submit a report at the earliest. Meanwhile, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur unit, Prahlad Singh Patel, said that neither the party nor the Legislative Assembly has taken any action against the resignation of the three MLAs.
