Grammy Award winning rapper Kanye West announces White House bid

NEW DELHI | JULY 5, 2020:

As Americans celebrated Independence Day on July 4, hip-hop musician Kanye West announced that he would run for US President this year, in what he probably considered a glorious surprise for the American populace.

If this announcement is indeed true, the 43-year-old rapper would be running against Democrat, Joe Biden and incumbent US President, Donald Trump, with whom he is on friendly terms.

Victory for the 21-time Grammy Award winner would also mean that his reality show celebrity wife, Kim Kardashian, would become First Lady of the US.

West made similar announcements in the past particularly during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.

Back in 2019, West said that he would run in 2024, presumably under the name, 'Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West'.

West, who is a supporter of President Trump, referred to him as 'his brother' and has been known to wear the signature Trump campaign cap emblazoned with the words 'Make America Great Again'.

West is one of the world's best-selling music artists, with over 140 million records sold worldwide.

Meanwhile, Tesla and SpaceX Founder, Elon Musk supported West's announcement by tweeting, "You have my full support!"
