DIPHU, Nov 11:

In a massive political development in Karbi Anglong, the newly floated political party of the three hill districts of Assam, All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC) split into two factions – the party led by its President J.I Kathar and the other led by its General Secretary Jona Terang.

During a press conference held at District Press Club of Karbi Anglong here on Monday, General Secretary, Jona Terang said, the reason for dividing its party was due to the disagreement among the party members since the last parliamentary election and till today all the work carried out by J.I Kathar was never consulted in the executive meeting.

He alleged that Kathar took all the decisions alone which "was totally wrong to the party."

"In every public meeting, J.I Kathar used to criticize all the leaders of Karbi Anglong alleging that none are leading the people in a right path", said Terang.

He further alleged that Kathar himself is violating the sections of the Sixth schedule. "Whatever he does, he is doing it for his own benefit," alleged General Secretary Jona Terang.

Terang informed that Hemari Rongpi has been appointed as the new President of the party.
