PM to attend first mega rally in Bengal following poll announcement

NEW DELHI:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to ensure a historical rally for Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Brigade Parade grounds in Kolkata on March 7.

It would be the first time Modi takes part in a rally following the poll announcement in West Bengal.

According to the BJP, party MPs and booth level workers will take part in the campaign and invite all to attend the PM’s mega rally.

The BJP also plans to launch a social media campaign to make the rally a success.

“This rally will be seen as a reflection of the mood of the voters ahead of the polls, and that is why such an effort is being made.

There will be three stages — one for PM Modi and senior leaders and the other two on each side of the primary stage for state leaders and candidates,” informed a senior BJP leader.

They have also invited musicians and folk artistes to perform at the event.

The elections for the 294 Assembly seats in West Bengal will kick off on March 27 as the state prepares to witness eight-phase Assembly polls this year.

The major players in the fray are none other than the TMC, Congress-Left alliance and the BJP.
