Very soon, all state capitals in Northeast will be connected by rail services: PM Modi on I-Day speech

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hoisted the Tricolour at the iconic Red Fort to celebrate the country’s 75th Independence Day. As the Prime Minister unfurled the national flag, two MI 17 IV helicopters showered flower petals on the venue in Amrut formation.

 Addressing the nation in his eight consecutive I-Day speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort after taking the office, the Prime Minister gave a call for “Sabka Prayas” along with “Sabke Saath, Sabka Bikas, Sabka Vikas” to build a new India. He lauded Tokyo Olympic heroes and Covid warriors and announced that a Rs 100 lakh crore national infrastructure master plan - ‘Pradhan Mantri Gatishakti National Master Plan’ - will be launched to create a foundation for holistic infrastructure and give an integrated pathway to our economy.

Speaking about the Northeastern states, The PM said that the capitals of Northeast states will soon be connected with railways and the entire region will get connected with Bangladesh, Myanmar, Southeast Asia for better opportunities. He added that Development should be inclusive and the Northeast, the Himalayan region, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, the coastal belt, and tribal regions will make a foundation for India’s development in the future.

 India is marking the occasion as “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” under which a series of events were organised across the country.

*We have to work towards our goal of making a Aatmanirbhar Bharat when we celebrate 100 years of India’s Independence.

*PM Modi said that August 14 will now be observed as “Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.”

*Within two years of “Jal Jeevan Mission”, over 4.5 crore new households have received piped water supply.

*The gap between lives in villages and cities needs to be bridged and we need to reach out to the deprived communities. For this, reservation is being ensured for Dalits, STs, backward, general category poor.

*Small farmers, who own less than 2 hectares of land, must become the country’s pride. In the coming years, we will see an increase in the collective power of small farmers. 

*Along with modern infrastructure, India needs to adopt a holistic approach to infrastructure construction.

*India will launch ‘Pradhan Mantri Gatishakti National Master Plan’, a 100 lakh crore national infrastructure master plan to create a foundation for holistic infrastructure and give an integrated pathway to our economy.

*Seventy-five Vande Bharat trains will connect every corner of India in 75 weeks of Amrit Mahotsav of Independence.

*The government’s New Education Policy will fight poverty with a focus on encouraging teaching in regional languages.

*We have to ensure India becomes self-reliant in energy production.

*India is fighting challenges of terrorism and expansionism and dealing with them with great courage.
