Union Education Minister reviews implementation of NEP-2020

Union Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, on January 29, chaired a meeting with senior officials of the ministry to review the implementation of New Education Policy- 2020.

“Chaired a meeting to review the progress made regarding the implementation of NEP-2020 within higher education today. Suggested that National Education Technology Forum should be seeded in UGC India and All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE) and it should start work immediately,” Pokhriyal tweeted.

According to a press release by the Ministry of Education, Pokhriyal directed appointment of Nodal Persons in all the concerned ministries for coordinating the seamless implementation of the Policy. For all the 181 tasks identified for implementation in Higher Education, its team leader must lead every task.

Pokhriyal informed the Government would soon take necessary steps to establish Virtual Universities, which would help in achieving the desired Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education as envisaged in NEP.

Pokhriyal also added that National Education Technology forum (NETF) should be seeded in University Grants Commission/All India Council for Technical Education (UGC/ AICTE) and should start the work immediately.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, he said that branding of Study in India programme should be taken up on a wider scale and asked the committee constituted for the Stay in India programme to submit a report within 15 days.

He said the committee should analyse the reasons behind students going abroad for pursuing studies.
