PM Modi releases 8th instalment of financial benefit under PM-KISAN

Under the PM-KISAN, the government has transferred around 19,000 crores to the bank accounts of 9.5 crore beneficiary farmer families from across the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday released the 8th instalment of financial benefit under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN).

Under the PM-KISAN, the government has transferred around 19,000 crores to the bank accounts of 9.5 crore beneficiary farmer families from across the country.

While speaking at the occasion of transferring of the 8th instalment under the PM-KISAN, the Prime Minister said that farmers from West Bengal will benefit from the scheme for the first time.

"On the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritya, around 19,000 crores have been directly transferred to the banks of farmers. It would benefit close to 9.5 crore farmers. For the first time, farmers from West Bengal will be benefitted from the scheme," PM Modi said while unveiling the scheme.

The Prime Minister, while deliberating about the details of the instalment, also lauded the efforts of the farmers in the country who, despite the ongoing COVID pandemic, created records in agriculture.

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, a financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year is provided to the eligible beneficiary farmer families, payable in three equal 4-monthly instalments of Rs 2,000 each.

The fund is transferred directly to the bank account of the beneficiaries.

Under this scheme, Samman Rashi of over Rs 1.15 lakh crores have been transferred to the farmers of the country so far, the government stated.
