Pakistan severely affected by floods

ISLAMABAD | SEPT 13, 2020:

Heavy rains in Pakistan resulted in floods, causing extensive damage to life and property in several parts of the country.

According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the death toll stands at 310 while 239 are injured.

Sindh province reported the maximum number of fatalities with 136, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 116, 16 in Punjab, 21 in Balochistan, 12 in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and 11 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The victims comprised 135 men, 107 children and 70 women.

About 13 roads, ten bridges, three hotels, three shops, five mosques and seven powerhouses were also damaged.

The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) informed that "all the main rivers, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej, flowing at normal levels, except for the Indus which was in medium flood."
